ESOL vs IELTS

ESOL vs IELTS

Just wondering if anyone here knows as I forgot to ask the UK consulate today....on the Spouse Visa requirements it depands a ESOL level 3.

My fiance has scored 7 in Academic IELTS and does not really want to have to take another exam, does anyone know if IELTS is considered an equivilent?
