Sorry if my previous post on this issue was not very clear.
I am a UK citizen trying to sort out a spouse visa for my Bangladeshi wife. We have just submitted our application but there is one point I am still confused about.
According to the official email which she was sent after we submitted the online application, she was supposed to print and sign the main application form and take it when she went to VFS for giving fees and biometrics. This she duly did. However, when she tried to hand over the form, 3 different staff at VFS insisted that it was not required, and they only took the front page, not the signed page.
In hindsight, this email guidance looks out of date as it still says to submit supporting documents at VFS rather than in Sheffield. However, it IS the official guidance we were given.
Some updated guidance from a live link on the VFS website merely says to send "one printed copy of the application form and photo." to Sheffield with the supporting documents, which I have duly done from the UK. This copy was not physically signed by anyone, and the signature box is blank because it was just a direct printout from the online application site. This updated guidance makes absolutely no reference to signatures, but as the initial email guidance stated that the signed copy had to go to VFS in Dhaka, it seemed reasonable to assume that the copy sent to Sheffield would not need to be signed, especially given that there is a time limit of 10 working days to submit the Sheffield documents. To get a signed copy sent from abroad in that timeframe would be be very tight.
Also, during the submission process for the online form, there was a 'sign declaration' button which required us to input the name (but not provide any further information such as a scan of a signature). Having done this, the application is now showing as 'declaration signed' which suggests all is well.
However, the worrying fact remains that there is not actually a physically signed copy of the form anywhere within our application, and we feel a bit nervous that that might cause problems despite the fact that we have tried to follow the official guidance as closely as possible
Any suggestions ?
