Info Request (Latest date to Enter)

Post by bloomberg » Wed Mar 26, 2008 8:11 pm

Hi Folks,

I have a situation specific query, request you all to answer the same.

I am currently based in Dublin ( Republic of Ireland) and had applied for an HSMP and subsequently got my EC stamped from British Embassy in Dublin which is valid from March 2008.

Now what would be latest date for me to Enter UK, without effecting my HSMP renewal and apparently PR application? I had called up the British Embassy regarding the same and their answer was that I can enter UK any time within these 2 years.

Also there is absolutely no Passport check in the British Airport when we travel from Dublin, so what would decide my start date in UK, if there is no Entry stamp in UK airport? Are there any other factors which define the start date of my living in UK?

I know that the above questions have come up in the Forum from time to time, but mine being a distinct case request you all to answer the same.

Thanks

Applying for settlement in the United Kingdom wrote:You must not send us your application more than 28 days before the end of your qualifying period. If you do, we may refuse your application with no refund of the fee. However, you must make your application before your current permission to stay in the United Kingdom expires.
Your qualifying period for settlement will start when you initially enter the UK. To avoid a future unnecessary further leave to remain extension before applying for settlement, it is normally advisable to enter the UK no later than 28 days (4 weeks) from the entry clearance/visa's effective date.

Keep airline tickets and boarding cards as proof of travel/entry. If possible, request a UK Immigration Officer to stamp your passport on arrival.

vinny,

Where is this 28 days rule stated ?
As I understand, it's a visa and does not have any entry restrictions.
