ILR dependant application

Post by Mariam Javad » Tue Dec 05, 2017 2:18 pm

Hello everyone,
I have just received my ILR (via 10 year route). I understand that my two kids (born in UK in 2014 and 2017) can apply for British citizenship now. My husband (who is currently in UK as my Tier 2 dependant, expiring on March 2018) needs to apply for ILR dependant visa as well.
Can anyone please suggest if it will be better to apply for the citizenship for the kids first and then apply for ILR dependant visa for my husband? If the kids become British citizens will the ILR dependant visa application easier to accept? Also how long does these applications usually take? Website says upto 6 months! Thank you very much for the help.
Best wishes
Mariam

Your spouse can apply at any point. You can simply state in a letter that you are in the process of registering your UK born children as British under Section 1(3) of the British Nationality Act.

He must apply before his current visa expires and also risk to travel out of the UK until he switches his visa.

No not really. He needs to meet the requirements for the visa.

Postal can take UP TO 6 months. He can also apply in person at a premium centre for a same day decision if he chooses to pay the extra fee.
