Visitor visa - overstay

Post by raj.m » Mon Dec 11, 2017 8:56 pm

Hi everyone,

I am writing on behalf of a friend's relative who came to the uk on the standard visitor visa and fell ill, and being treated in the NHS at the moment. His visa is going to be expire in the next couple of days and It seems that he is going to overstay till he is well enough to travel.

How do they go about this? Also, my friend (a british citizen as well as a civil servant) sponsored him. How will his relative's overstay affect him as he is the sponsor?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Many thanks

The visitor would be charged at 150% of cost for any NHS use in the UK while on a visit visa. If the bill is not paid, it will cause issues with any future visa applications.

If he overstays for more than 30 days, then he faces a year ban from entering the UK, unless exempted.
