Hi
has anyone else having problems with visitors visa's for family and friends. i recently made an application for a visitor’s visa, for a short two-week holiday to the UK for my partner. It would appear that staff at the application centre made a grave administration error resulting in my partner’s visa application being denied.
On the 15/11/17 11am my partner attended his appointment at the application centre based in the Merit Hotel in Nicosia, Northern Cyprus. He went along to his appointment with his pack of documents and check list which i personally ensured was correct and in order with evidence of his financial situation. At his appointment he was given back his original documents by a member of staff. This included his bank books that contained his personal and financial circumstances which demonstrated his ability to fund himself whilst in the UK for a 14 day holiday.
His bank books were handed back to him, and he was asked to sign the check list at his appointment however due to the language barrier would not have understood or been able to check his personal financial circumstances had been included, relying on staff to complete their task.
Imagine how confused and angry we were when on the 05/12/17 we received a letter from the Entry Clearance Officer stating that he had not submitted any information regarding funds available, either personal or financial, and as a result it was decided that given these circumstance he was NOT a genuine visitor and doubts were raised that he would leave the UK at the end of his stay; or that he has sufficient funds available to cover the cost while in the UK without working or accessing public funds referring paragraph 4.2 (a) and (e) of Appendix V.
As a front line Government worker i know this is impossible for him to have recourse to public funds. How can such an assumption be made in their decision when it clearly states on the UK Government website in Appendix FM 1.0 no recourse to public funds for none EU national.
Due to this costly administration error, the consequences and impact are now expensive and disappointing to say the least. This has caused insurmountable upset and totally ruined Christmas and New Year plans for family and friends. The fall-out cost from this error is now running into hundreds of pounds as I am being forced to leave the UK on a late flight to join my partner in Cyprus for the New Year, plus the costly amount of paying for a visitor’s visa that was never going to be passed.
I have found this whole process to be cruel and unethical causing my partner and myself unwarranted distress and anxieties. To further the insult I was charged £17.81 on my visa card to make a phone call to immigration offices to get the refusal letter emailed as we had not received this also.
What has come to light also is that a friend who also has a Turkish partner has had the same dear john letter identical to mine and his application was handed in with all financial documents added but bizarrely missed out.
I refuse to let this go, i have put in a complaint to Immigration and i have an appointment to see my MP on the 22nd of this month where i will be putting a formal complaint into the Government.
