Help! Registered S.e.x Offender Immigrating to Aust from USA

Can anyone please help me on this subject. A family member of mine has invited this person to stay and with her, and her two young daughters, but he has been charged and convicted for raping a child in the usa. He is also a registered s.e.x offender in the usa. Does anyone know how this person was able to have his visa approved or do you think that he has some how lied on the application. He is a violent and controlling man and I want him out of her life. He wants to apply for permanent residency, does he have to return to the usa first to do this? If yes is there anyway to stop him returning or anyone to contact to who knows more about this? If anyone can help on this subject it would be much appreciated.

Did the visa application form ask for any convictions? Some countries ask for applicants to list convictions, but I'm not sure if Australia does. They would for permanent residency, though. When did he commit the offence and is he still on the sex offenders register?

The two girls are aren't his, they belong to her which is why I am really worried. He also has a son that he wants to bring over to live her too. I'm not to sure about the visa application questions, I think there was a part about convictions but I'm pretty sure he lied about that on the application. The rape happened 10 yrs ago and I have checked that he is still on the s.e.x offender list in his state. I know that for sure because I found the warning flyer about him on the internet.

I find it hard to see how he could legitmately get a visa for Australia (other than with a real struggle) with that kind of background.

Thats exactly what I think. He must have lied on his application to get here with a criminal history like his. He has applied for an extension but I think that he has to return to the usa first. So I am hoping that when he returns they will do a more extensive background check and refuse him re-entry back into the country.

Does your friend know of his convictions? If so, why did she allow him to stay? Are they together?

Australia is not an easy country to migrate to - I think they are one of the toughest - and they certainly would not allow a registered sex offender to remain in the country, so he is probably lying to them.

I am not sure how much you can do, but if you are concerned about the girls' safety then you might want to contact the authorities if he does return to Australia and remains in your friend's home. If he is on the internet then you can try pointing this out to the authorities.

Yes, the person involved did know of his convictions before she invited him to live in her house with her and her 2 and 4 year old daughters. She is too in love with him to see him for who he really is, we have tried to talk to her but she is being unreasonable. She can do what she wants, it's her children I am concerned about. I don't know how you can knowingly invite a pedaphile into your house, especially when you have daughters. Do you know who I can contact about him? Will the immigration department be the best? His son is 7 years old.
