when my husband subbitmted his file he was also told to do this biometric finger print thing and come back in a few days. any ideas on what this is and why the do it??

I have read that biometric tests are compulsory from April 2008. They take finger prints and 3D face photos for records.
I am planning to apply for tourist visa for my parents soon.

thanks. i suppose there just trying to cut down on illigal immigrant and fake passports. good luck with your parents visa, where are they from?
