EEA Family Permit or standard visa?

Post by elcid » Tue Sep 05, 2017 11:39 pm

Hello,

I'm an EEA national currently living in a non-EEA country with my husband and 2yr old daughter.

I intend to move to the UK (where I've lived for a couple years before) with my daughter. What visa should I get for her?

I don't currently exercise any treaty rights by working etc in the UK, would that be a problem for the family permit? Or should I just apply for a standard visit/tourist visa for my daughter and then apply for her EEA nationality through me?

If you are an EEA national how is it possible that your daughter is not?

He acquired the EEA citizenship after the birth of his daughter and therefore his daughter does not get it...
He acquired his citizenship by descent and hen can not pass it on further to his daughter.
His daughter who is born abroad is not registered with the authorities of his EEA country.

There are many reasons why children do not acquire the nationality of their parents. It depends on the nationality laws of the country.

To the OP, Dan1998UK highlights an important point. If your daughter has an EEA passport, of course she does not need a Family Permit to enter the UK. Can she acquire an EEA passport?
