Travelling on dependant visa when main applicant has become ILR

Post by Gbejkar » Thu Dec 28, 2017 11:14 am

Hi all,
I have now got ILR (August 2017) previously on tier2 visa. My daughter has her valid Indian passport and UK visa (based on my old tier 2 visa). I have applied naturalisation and British passport for her but it is still under process. My question is, whether my daughter can travel on her Indian passport and UK visa?
Thanks

Yes. She is only British once the certificate is issued, until then, she is free to travel on her current visa.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Just to confirm that although my daughter's visa is based on my old tier 2 visa (now I have become ILR), she is still ok to travel.

If you got ILR based on Tier 2 with 5 years residence, then YES. It would be different if you got ILR based on 10 years long residence.

Just another query, what will happen if we receive my daughter's british passport while she is in India? will she be able to travel back to the UK on her Indian passport and UK visa?

She should be able to travel without any issues. If they do question you at the airport, you could say the certificate & passport arrived when you were away. She won't be denied entry in any case.
