Maintenance funds for family members and proof

Post by hereb » Tue Jan 09, 2018 10:44 pm

Hi,
I recently got Tier 4 General from India for a Doctorate level course and back in London(Was in London for the past 3 years as ICT Dependent). At the time of applying for T4G, I had paid fees and showed maintenance funds which are in my name for one bank and another which is a joint account(with husband providing authorization letter to use funds), both are UK based banks.

Now my family members are eligible to switch to be my dependent in country as they satisfy the requirements, my husband is working full time on ICT and we have 2 children attending school in UK for the past 3 years.

Concern is for maintenance funds, can we show the funds proof which I had submitted while applying for visa with latest date range or should it be different? Can my husband show joint account as the bank statement will come in his name (while applying I had joint bank statement in my name) and some funds in banks based in India which are on the positive list of Banks where home office accepts as proof from? Do I also need to show funds again as principal applicant?

Thanks.

If you previously showed evidence of this money for your own maintenance for 9 months, it would not be wise or logical to now show the same money as evidence of maintenance for a different person.

please can you confirm, you could have applied for Switch from PBS Dependent (T2 ICT Dependent) to Tier 4 (general) Student with UK

is that not allowed?

No.

Thank you sah10406 for the update, we will work accordingly. I was going through the PBS Dependents Policy guidelines for family members to switch over in UK, who all can apply in UK, there are certain conditions are laid down and most of the stuff I understood but one of them is very confusing like leave to remain, leave to enter etc, could you please help understand what does the below paragraph mean?

this is under point 50.

(iv) the following conditions are met:

a) the Tier 4 (General) applicant is applying for entry clearance, leave to enter, or leave to remain, to undertake a course of study that is longer than six months and either:

(1) has entry clearance, leave to enter, or leave to remain as a Tier 4 (General) Student or as a student to undertake a course of study longer than six months; or

(2) last had entry clearance, leave to enter, or leave to remain within the three months preceding the application as a Tier 4 (General) Student or as a student to undertake a course of study longer than six months; and

b) You (the family member) must either-

(1) have entry clearance, leave to enter, or leave to remain as a family member of a Tier 4 (General) Student or a student with entry clearance, leave to enter, or leave to remain, to undertake a course of study longer than six months; or

(2) have last had entry clearance, leave to enter, or leave to remain within the three months preceding the application as the family member of a Tier 4 (General) Student or as a student to undertake a course of study longer than six months; and

c) the Tier 4 (General) applicant Migrant and you (the family member) must be applying at the same time.

As a postgraduate student you meet the requirement of paragraph 50(i).

50{ii), 50{iii) and 50 {iv) are the requirements for other students in different situations.
