Spouse Visa -Small LTD Director financial requirements

Hi Everyone,
New here, although been reading this forum long time

My wife and her daughter will apply for spouse visa extension in December 2018.
There is a situation:
In March 2017 I started LTD as company Director
I started to pay myself salary in October
First financial year ends on March 2018
But I don't think I am going to make £22400 for the first financial year
Certainly I will meet financial requirement for second year (march 2019) but its too late as visa ends in January 2019.
I was hoping the Home office would take under consideration last 12 moth as financial report for first year will be like 11 month old on the day we will apply for visa.
So my question - whether Home Office needs financial proof for last 12 month or only financial year?

What is you thoughts guys?
I realise my thoughts may not be very clear so don'd hesitate to ask
