Tier 2 ICT to Dependent Visa

Post by reddy99 » Wed Jan 17, 2018 11:18 am

Hello All,

I am currently working on a Tier 2 ICT visa in UK.
My Fiance is working in UK on a Tier 2 General visa and would be applying for ILR in Dec.

We are getting married in a couple of months and I am planning to change my visa from Tier 2 ICT to a dependent visa.

Question I have is - If I change to dependent visa in March (Tier 2 general dependent), do I have to change my dependent visa category again in December when my spouse changes her visa from Tier 2 to ILR.
Does this mean I have to go through the entire process and paying the visa fees twice.

Thanks in advance for the help.

On what basis is your fiance applying for ILR, 5 years Tier 2 or 10 years long residence?

A tier 2 dependent visa will only be issued for the duration of your fiance's visa. So if her visa expires say on 1 December 2018, your PBS Dependent visa will have the same expiry.

You can continue as a PBS dependent once your fiance gets ILR. The rules permit it. You will need 5 years residence as PBS Dependent before you qualify for ILR.
