Tier 2 ( change of employer )

Post by ryyc » Sat Feb 03, 2018 11:01 pm

Hi, I currently received a job offer from new employer and going to apply for unrestricted COS probably next month. Just wondering can someone help with my queries related to the application of new Tier 2 under change of employer. It is going to be a little bit complicated and I appreciate your patience to read and answer my questions.

1. I am aware that unrestricted COS is depending on the quota/number of UCOS that your sponsor have left for the current year. If my employer has available UCOS, how long it will takes for me to get a new UCOS?

2. My passport is going to expire in February 2019, I am planning to renew it by the end of this month (February 2018) when I am back to my home country for 2 weeks holiday. The reason why I want to renew it a year before the expiry date is to prevent any problems that will arise by the time I apply for a new tier 2 visa around March-April 2018. However, I have a concern regarding the renewal of passport:

scenario 1:
since I have submitted my current passport to my new employer which I assume they will use it for the application of UCOS, so the question is IF MY CURRENT PASSPORT is used to apply new UCOS, which passport should I use for the application of NEW TIER 2 VISA? would it be a problem to apply with the new passport?

scenario 2:
It is better to apply the NEW UCOS with my NEW PASSPORT?

3. I will be back to my home country for 13 days at the end of february - early of march 2018. If my employer need to apply for UCOS within this period where I will not be in the UK, would it be a problem? I will definitely apply the new visa from within the UK. I am just being extra cautious to prevent any potential problems.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! :D

Tier 2 - indefinite leave to remain

Post by ryyc » Sat Feb 03, 2018 11:29 pm

Hi, my current tier 2 visa is valid till November 2019, however I am planning to change my job and work with a new employer around JUNE 2018. Lets assume if I have a new tier 2 visa that valid from JUNE 2018 to JUNE 2021 and my total duration on tier 2 visa will be 4 years 7 months. Am I allowed to extend my visa for another 1 year and 5 months and apply my ILR during this period?

THANK YOU! 8)

1. I don't think the employer has a quota for unrestricted CoS? They could apply as many as they want couldn't they?

2. Send both passports to them when you are applying then problem solved. Personally I think if they use your current passport to apply for UCOS, then use your current passport to apply for for the visa. You could renew your passport with your embassy in the UK when you are back from your holiday, couldn't you? You don't have to get a new passport in your home country.

3. No it wouldn't be a problem, I don't think so.
