Spouse Visa - Silver Premium Service Package - VFSGlobal

Post by FXR_1340 » Mon Jan 29, 2018 8:57 pm

Can the Silver Premium Service offered by VFSGlobal be used when submitting a Settlement for Spouse Visa application?

There is more clarity with the Settlement Gold package offered but the costs are quite different. As far as I can see the only difference in service offered which would be iuseful to me is the Form Filling Assistance and I think we have that covered.

I find the VFSGlobal website less than clear on this point.

Grateful for input on this?

Following our recent experiences, we contacted a lawyer for help on visa in general. We received what we feel is intetesting input. What do you think?

".......sorry to hear that you had to withdraw your recent FLRm application. Do not blame yourself for the misfortune. As most other people who have no experience dealing with the UK immigration authorities, you may view the world of UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) and immigration process in general as a strange and alien universe. Unfortunately, the new redesigned UKVI website is almost impossible to navigate, so it is easy to get in trouble unless you are familiar with the process. They seem to be deliberately setting people up to fail. Indeed, those who initially enter the UK on a non-settlement marriage visitor visa are not eligible to switch into the spouse visa category/partner route from within the UK as a matter of current Home Office policy....."

The most interesting bit being ".......deliberately setting people up to fail....."

It is only an opinion but it does seem pretty well founded.

Grasping at straws here. 100's of applicants get it right, very few don't. Of course a solicitor would say that, they WANT you to sign up with them, pay their huge fees to complete an application for you, i.e. 'we can navigate for you and help you, pay us £xxx first'.

The bottom line is, you chose the wrong visa category even after being given the advice of exactly what visa you need to apply for from abroad.

With respect to you, what has been stated is an opinion.

With regards to what appears to be a dig from you, yes we did choose the wrong visa however this was due, at least in part, to the applicant (my wife) not being too clued up on IT. This coupled with the myriad of options and the difference between UK English and US English did not, at least in our case, help

I did not want to say this but it should be noted that, when we first asked the question, we were first advised to go down the VAF2a and Appendix 2 route and this was incorrect. It was only when we began the form filling and came back to this board for advice were we advised we were completing the wrong form. These things happen. However your response now is taken as a dig at me (and mine) hence the reason to clarify.

Getting back to my post. You are correct it is an opinion from a lawyer. However the reams of questions placed on this, and many other similar forums, does give weight to the fact that the process is anything other than difficult. "Grasping at straws" does not come in to it. What has happened, happened. My post was merely meant to be for information. Nothing more.

Hey ho........

It is not a 'dig at you'.

We can only offer advice (offen repetitively), whether members choose to take it or use, is their choice and we are still here to offer more advice, when things go wrong.

In fairness, there seems little point in your final paragraph. I (we) are acutely aware of our error. There seems little point in raising the issue in your reply. Why raise the point again?

As I said, the point raised by the lawyer is pertinent. Its accepted that it is an opinion as was yours regarding the lawyers motives. As mentioned, regardless of what advice and/or guidance available, if the process was less unhelpful there would be less need at least for so much advice/guidance.

Moreover, I am sure the advice/guidance offered on this Board is welcomed by all who receive it.

I will leave others to comment or offer any further advice on your next steps, opinions by advisors and future applications.

Good luck!

It seems like you are going in the huff. Thats unfortunate and regrettable. Its a pity given my post ref the lawyer was presented in good faith. However I do recognise it is your prerogative.

Thank you for your good wishes.
