English Requirement Confirmation.

Dear All,

I have been granted HSMP in June 2006 when the English test was not a requirement, As I am going to apply for my extension which will be under Tier 1. Do I have to go through english test, by looking at this in guidelines, doesn't seem the case. Can some one confirm who already did so?

161. Applicants meet the English language requirement if:
• they were last granted leave under a Tier 1 category
(other than Investors, where there is no English language
requirements) and are applying for an extension; or,
• they were last granted leave as a Highly Skilled Migrant
which was granted under the Immigration Rules which
came into force on 5 December 2006 and are applying for
an extension under a Tier 1 category.

If so, how and where it will be mentioned in my application.

Yes you need to meet English language requirement. The safest way is to do IELTS. You can also present University letter that your course was taught in English. Also check thta your degree meets the English language requirement on BIA self tool (on BIA website).

But didn't I was first granted HSMP (Before Dec 2006 changes) when only self certified letter was require. I check the point calculator, it matches my degree confirmed to English requirement.

Can some one else comment.
