Has the Tier 2 Situation Changed?

Post by hell_storm2004 » Tue Mar 06, 2018 5:48 pm

Hello Everyone,

I was looking to get back to job hunting in the UK, but before making it a waste of time, just wanted to know, has the situation really changed in terms of Tier 2 sponsorship? Or is it the same. Or is it just better to wait for the Brexit to come to an end? Will it be any different after Brexit? I dont know! I gave up last year after 2.5-3 years of trying.

Not sure what you believe has changed?? You still need an HO approved sponsor, the list changes, SOC's and salaries change yes, but essentially, not much else.

Brexit has nothing to do with the UK Immigration route visas, it affects EU citizens and their family on the EU route.

I think the OP's question relates more to the "soft" (is it easier to get a job, more openness to hiring a Tier 2 applicant, etc) side of a Tier 2 application rather than the "hard" (making the application and meeting the specific requirements) side.

For instance, now that EEA citizens are leaving the UK in droves, does it allow more opportunities/create vacancies for non-EEA citizens to immigrate? Is it likely that the UK government will relax T2 rules in response to a shortage of workers, etc?

I will leave it for others to answer, but worth remembering that Brexit will theoretically occur only in March 2019, likely followed by a soft Brexit/BINO* (i.e. no changes for EEA citizens) implementation phase till December 2020.

So, unless you are in a specialist field like doctors or nurses, there is unlikely to be a change in the immediate short-term. But of course, things could move rapidly and there may be many a slip betwixt cup and lip.

*BINO - Brexit In Name Only

Well yeah, my question was on those lines, well by now most the of the VISA sponsor companies know me by name as I have applied so many times! :)

From the looks of things, I guess I will hold off on this for now.
