Permanent contract for tier 2 extension

Hi,
Is it ok to apply for tier2 extension with a permanent contract role, considering some one has spend 4 years in fixed term contract in the same company.

I read in uk gov site that as per Uk rule any fixed term contract after 4 years becomes a permanent contract with the same employee.does it apply to non-eu citizen in tier2 visa as well.
Curious coz the cos has start and end date but the contract has employment type as permanent.
Does that matter for extension ?

Where did you read it?? Useful to post the gov link if you are posting details of what a site says.

It makes no difference to your extension though.

Its mendtioned here, if you look under limit on renewing fixed term contracts,

"Any employee on fixed-term contracts for 4 or more years will automatically become a permanent employee, unless the employer can show there is a good business reason not to do so."

Best not to confuse employment things with immigration rules, they are separate.
