I am a British citizen and my boyfriend is Brazilian. I met my boyfriend in Ireland a few months ago where he is currently studying English. Since then we have been making our relationship work seeing eachother every other week as I work full time at home in England. At the end of the year his course will finish and he will have to return to Brazil as no longer a student. We have discussed our situation a few times already because it is a worry what will happen. We love each other a lot, both in our early thirties and very serious about staying together to have a future and one day a family. I would prefer us to be able to do this in the UK because this is my home. I need some advice on what our options are with regards to Visas. We are fully prepared to become married to stay/live together because we will at some point anyway however I feel like this is a catch 22 situation because at the time of our application we will still have only been together less than a year which won’t look favourable but unfortunately we don’t have the luxury of being able to live together beforehand because I don’t think the other visas besides fiancée/spouse are open to us. I have heard it is very difficult to find jobs willing providing a work visa for him to live here for a while. Also, I’m confused about how the family visas work. Would it be better to apply for a fiancé visa and marry in the UK or marry in his country and then apply for a spousal visa? Does it make any difference when it comes to the spousal visa where you get married?
I would just like to have a plan in mind! Thank you in advance
