Immigration Survey For Canadian Immigrants

Post by Faritova » Fri Feb 29, 2008 9:14 pm

To anyone interested in participating,

I’m a social science student doing a research survey for a course and would welcome your participation. I’m interested in finding volunteers who would answer a short 25 question survey about their immigration experience in Canada.

This questionnaire is designed to examine whether there is a widening gap between the over-qualification and under-employment of new immigrants that have qualified in the economic immigrant category and what sort of impact that is having?

This questionnaire is particularly interested in examining the trend in unemployment rates in immigrants in the skilled and professional workers sub-category.

This questionnaire is also investigating whether new immigrants in this particular sub-category were able to secure a job in Canada that matched their qualifications from their home country or not. This project seeks to find an average for the number of skilled and professional workers who have had to retrain or re-qualify upon arrival in Canada in order to continue working in their field.

This project is also interested in whether some immigrants chose to change their job field altogether in order to secure any type of work in Canada due to either competition in the job market, discrimination, retraining or other issues.

Is Canada bringing in too many highly skilled and professional workers to a job market that can’t support them? Should Canada be providing more information to immigrants about the types of retraining that immigrants may have to do once in Canada to work even though they’re qualified to work in their home countries and they qualified for immigration? You do not have to provide your name to participate and your answers will be kept confidential.

To participate, please email me at socialscience73@live.com and I will send you the survey. This survey study is active from February 29th, 2008 to March 14th, 2008.

Thank you for your attention.
