Hello, please i am a bit confused , i would like to apply for a british passport, i am nigerian , moved to the uk 2012 and now currently on a 2.5 leave to remain visa, but the immigration laws says one can apply for the passport as long as youve remained in the country for 5 years of which i have done, but i would like to know if i should proceed with the application or not as i am on a ten year partner route? .

Only a British Citizen can apply for a passport.

No, that is not all it says. It also says you must be free from immigration time restrictions, i.e. hold PR or Indefinite Leave to Remain.
