Call missed from Sheffield :(

Hi guys,

I made my wife's spouse visa application on 3rd March 2018 with non priority service. Biometric fingerprints were given on 5th March. I send documents on 12th March, UkVI received it on 13th March. Got email on 5th April saying application is in the decision making centre and docs are being prepared for a case worker. Documents returned on 14th April.

Now today I received a call at 11:20am from Bristol, number is 0117901560, when I picked the call it disconnected, I called back it said invalid number.

Then at 5:42 pm same day got a call from a Sheffield number, I was busy so didn't realise it and missed the call. The number is 01140163633. Tried calling back but it was an invalid number.

I am really worried and think it might be a call from UkVI. Please advice me what to do? I have read people have been refused previously just because they failed to receive UKVI calls? Never ever in my life was I so stressed out as I am now after making the spouse visa application. Kindly suggest me something. I don't know what to do.

Don't worry it seems to me both of numbers are spam , home office and government department usually call with private number or withheld number, so no need to take stress , just be patient

Thank you shaniHaroon for your reply. I just hope it’s not from UKVI. It’s really not fair if they base their decision from not receiving their calls, there are other ways they can communicate like emails or by sending letters. Plus they can also verify documents by checking HMrc , banks , other government offices. There should be some strict rules in place for caseworkers that misuse or abuse their powers.

I will never suggest to blindly ignore the call with the mere assumption that they only call via private number. Then can even call from non-private number. And during the application processing time receiving call from Sheffield can't be a coincident unless someone relative/friends live there who most often call from there.

Thank you Seagul for your input. I don’t have any relatives living there. What do you think I should do? Should I email them regarding the call or call them. If I call them here won’t be any record of conversation but emailing will help me keep a record. Please suggest any ideas. I am really worried and stressed now. I don’t like this UKVI visa processing system at all. Very stressful. Thank you

If you really want, then send email to UKVI and ask to escalate your message to Sheffield and state you may have missed 2 calls today which which contained Sheffield area codes, and if was from an ECO, you were not available to answer the call at this time, and if they require to call you again please advise how they want you to proceed with such request.

Do ECO's even call on a weekend. I wouldn't worry too much about it. InshaAllah if it them at all, it doesn't have a negative effect on your application.

Thank you londoner007, I was called on Friday, ie.. yestarday at 5:42 pm. Same day at 11:20 I received another call from Bristol.I received the call but the caller hung the call. I asked a solicitor and he said Homeoffice usually send a voicemail or a message if they call and can’t find the sponsor they called. Will HO call back again? should I wait and see or would it be too risky to wait?

Yes, they will attempt to call you again if it was indeed them at all. If they still need to speak to you they will write to you, possibly via email to provide any further information.

Do not worry, they will try get hold of you if they still haven't got the information they require.

One more thing, when I send them email should I the (sponsor) or the applicant email them regarding the missed calls
