Re: Still waiting for a decision.....

Post by bammargera » Thu Apr 19, 2018 3:00 pm

Finally decision received. 103 working days later. Happy but feels hollow, really poor service all around and in light of the ongoing windrush controversy I really can’t find the words to express how ashamed of this country I am. Realise that doesn’t help anyone here, but maybe people will feel less alone to know that we are ALL at the end of our tethers with them.

They made us re send bank statements I already sent them with the original application then took two months to review them. They said they were running additional checks hence the delay but my employer was never contacted. They claimed we missed an email sent to us but turns out the email was never sent. They claimed our case was complicated financially but I earn a base salary of 50k and provided absolutely comprehensive evidence in line with their policy. I’m a chartered accountant and I don’t cut corners with these things. My wife lived in the U.K. for over 6 years and has a masters from ucl, as a white British person this has been eye opening for me. We don’t have any criminal records or even dependants. What an awful situation this country puts people in due purely to their origin. I empathise with all of you and wish you the best.

Timelines for your reference:

20/11 biometrics
28/12 documents returned
12/2 additional docs (bank statements - already sent to them) asked for as they apparently couldn’t see my net salary in there?
13/2 bank statements sent again to them to email address they provided.
23/3 final processing email received
3/4 phantom email they apparently sent us which never reached our inbox. Found out by chance from contact centre agent when I rang to escalate a THIRD time. One example of many of abject incompetence by the contact centres.
18/4 told a decision made
19/4 my wife collects the visa. GRANTED

I hope in my life time I see the back of this system. It’s not what this country stands for.

You are 22 weeks, when did you receive the not straightforward email?

It’s hard to say. The only word of truyh to have ever come out the mouth of the HO is no two cases are the same. This certainly seems to be true as going by posts on this forum and some experts spoken to as we waited over 15 working days from the final processing email a rejection letter should be coming. It didn’t. Then again, seems they were probably trying to find something - all my documents were in order though.

It’s really hard to infer anything from the timeline but hope you get good news soon

Jamshaid and others out of curiosity are you saying that when someone receives a link for IHS payment for a child for example they ask IHS team for link because there was an error of £0 when they applied 3 months ago, if they email with a link it means that visa is likely to be issued? I have read many places where you said a link means you will get a visa -how do you know this is true?
I observed this from different people experiences on different forums. Here are my observations:

1). Those applicants with children usually get decision in their 5th or 6th months from bio metrics date.
2). Those applicants with children if ask to pay IHS payment are likely to get VISA approval. I have not witness any applicant so far whose VISA refused after IHS payment made. All of them got approval Once paid.
3). I have witness few applicants with children who got passport collection messages without asking for IHS payment ended up in refusals.

Therefore based upon my personal observation, it seems to me that even though making IHS payment is a procedural step but it may means something positive and probably a good news. However there is no guarantee and assurance that once shall get it. But this is the current trend i have been witnessing... Its my personal view and observation. :D :D

Select Other Relative then Put Mother / Father, whoever the sponsor is their details

It will be obvious kid will stay with the sponsor to them. Silly why they don't include option for parents.

You do not correct it - you select other relative then put sponsors detail in.

Already advised you what to do. They will see its the sponsors detail you have put in there, who is the child's parent anyway.

I will leave it at that and allow others to confirm to you further.

Thank you to everyone who posts their timelines and gives advice on this forum. I have only post once before but all the information I have found here has been extremely useful. Here is my timeline:
Country: Egypt
UK Spouse Visa first application
Category: Non priority
Online application submitted: 18/01/2018
Biometric - 28/01/2018
Docs submitted - 05 March 2018
Supporting documents sent to Sheffield: 01/02/2018.
Received confirmation that passport is ready for collection: 23/04/2018
Passport collected: 24/04/2018
Docs return from Sheffield - 24/04/2018
Visa granted

A sincere thank you to all who contribute to this forum and especially the admin. Even though I used a solicitor, without this forum I would have gone crazy waiting.
