My friend is from India and has been here for 8 years
He has a tier2 visa that expires on 26/3/20. He can apply for indefinite leave to remain (ILR) on 28 days before 26/03/2019 which is when he completes his 5 yr period on the current visa

There is a chance he may be made redundant from his job in September

What options does he have to apply for ILR

How does he ensure he is able to last until 01 Mar 2019 which is by when he is eligible to apply for ilr.
His worry is he loses is job only a few months before he can get ILR and he has a house and two children both born in the UK to support

As you said,your friend has been here for 8 years, can you please give bit more details. Which category visa did he enter into UK.?was there any break in his stay?
