Hello everyone.
I read many topics in this forum but never got a clear answer.
I am Non EEA with a Permanent Resident.
unfortunately I am getting divorce from my EEA wife.
I understand that a divorce won't effect my PR status what I don't understand is that what will be my situation after brexit if I don't apply/refused for naturalisation as I stopped being a family memebr of an EEA Natioanl.
I read in the Goverment website:
" A permanent residence document confirms that you have rights under European law. In the future, EU law will no longer apply and the migration and status of EU nationals will be subject to UK law.
There will be a simple process for you to exchange this for a settled status document free of charge and we won’t repeat any assessment of residence.
You will need to:
provide an identity document and a recent photograph to confirm your identity and nationality
confirm you still live in the UK
declare any criminal convictions "
Link: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/status-of-e ... ed-to-know
from this reading I understand that it will be a simple process to convert my PR to the settled status without repeat any assessment of residence which means if I have PR and I am not a family member of an EEA National I will receive the settle status?
I hope someone will have a clear answer for me.
Many Thanks,
Dave.
