Husbands Children from Previous Relationships

Post by MRSB1 » Wed Apr 18, 2018 9:13 am

Hi,

I am applying for my husband to come to the UK from Jamaica. He has a child from a previous relationship. They were not married and it was nothing too serious from my understanding as in they didn't live together etc. The child lives with her mother and has always done so, and will not be coming to the UK with him. There is no court order with regards to this or any formal contact arrangements. The immigration application does ask if there are any children from a previous relationship, therefore does he need to provide any documentation about the child? and if so what? I imagine a birth certificate would be the least but what else with regards to the child and the previous relationship. He has regular contact with the child which he and the child facilitate amongst themselves (as she lives locally and often walks to his house) as well as with her uncles as he and the mother do not speak really, so if there is anything that the child's mother needs to provide she isn't going to do it. What happens then?

Thank you.

Photographs

Post by MRSB1 » Mon Apr 23, 2018 9:35 am

Might sound like a stupid questions but am I able to write on the back of the original photographs the dates they were taken to correspond with my flight dates to see my husband or do the photographs need to be clear and then send photocopies of the photographs with the details on it (Like on a A4 paper).

If I just send the original photographs how will they know when they are from?

Thank you.

Write on the back of photos with names + dates + location / occasion

In addition to this, you can also send a A4 printed copies of same photos (e.g 4x4) with same details on them to make it easier for the person photocopying them to put it through their scanners.

Originals are always the best, especially those printed on photo sized paper.

what happens if we go over the 2 week deadline to submit supporting documents

Post by MRSB1 » Fri May 25, 2018 1:32 am

Due to DHL messing us about, there is a chance that I may not receive my husbands documents back and be able to send the supporting documents to Sheffield within the 2 weeks timescale.

what happens if I miss the deadline??

2 weeks is for priority and 4 weeks is for non-priority.

It may delay you application if they accept it. Write a note and explain the reason for delay with any proofs.

Thank you for your reply.

It's a priority application

I am thinking about getting him to print off the signature page of the application form and emailing back and printing it myself so I have it to send and can make the deadline. It will be different to what they have scanned in the system at the biometrics appointment do you think that it will make a difference. The same with Appendix 2. That doesn't require a signature so I am going to fill it in myself again and send it with the app again this will have different writing (because it will have been filled on different days with the different pen) than what they have seen at the biometrics.

If I do this then it means that the only thing that will be missing will be his passport photograph which in my opinion is better than having the application form, appendix two and the photograph missing. I just don't want there to be any reason for them to turn us down, but equally, don't want them to say the docs don't match what was taken to the biometrics appointment and think that they are fraudulent when they are not. What do you think?

I do have emails between myself and the courier service discussing the fact that the package hasn't left Jamaica on the day it was booked to that can be included.

You can ask your husband to take photos (even phone cameras are good for this purpose), then mail/send his photographs to you. you can then get them printed yourself.

search idphoto4you on google. this website will allow you to crop the photos as per UK passport photo guidelines. then get them printed at boots photo print.
