Contact from Case Worker

Hi all:

I applied for nationalisation (ILR +5 years) in early April. A few weeks back, I received contact from my case worker, first, to request my 2018 P60 or recent payslips for evidence of continued employment (I submitted a letter from my employer with my application; so I thought the request was a bit odd); then I received a second request, this time by phone, to give my national insurance number (I provided the case worker with my UTR because I don't have a national insurance number).

My question is, should i take any of this as a good or bad sign -- both in terms of having my application approved and in the speed of processing?

How you get UTR without having a national insurance number?

I file a self assessment form. For that, I needed a UTR.

I guess I should also clarify that the USA has a treaty with the UK that exempted me from NI payments for 5 years. So, I didn't start paying NI until a few years ago.

Do you think it would be OK to contact my caseworker (by email) asking for an update or is that not appropriate? I received an email to give further information a while back, which i did immediately.

I find it somewhat baffling that this process takes so long.

Hi,

I dont think so it is appropriate to contact case worker for the update as we clearly know that it could take up to 6 months for the application to decide.

Did you apply Passport at the same time, did your passport fee been deducted.

I applied on 17th of April and my Passport fee deducted on 29th of May, but i am still waiting for decision. there are many people who are still waiting.

Fair enough. No, my fees have not been taken.

I recognize that there are a lot of people waiting. But we pay £1,300 for this; there could be a little more service in this process. Very frustrating.

Hi,

Believe me, doesnt matter how much the fee is, HO takes thr time to decide the cases and every case is different. You will see in some cases people have got approval in 5 weeks and in some cases it took 10-11 weeks and there are few who are waiting for 3-4 months.

I hope we get a good new soon.

Will you mind sharing you timeline, like when did you apply etc.

Hi,

Applied April 9 (NDCS + JCAP)
Biometrics done April 10
NDCS appointment April 17

I had one follow up from the HO on May 15 and then another one on June 1 (both mentioned above).

Passport fees have not been deducted. Just killer waiting with no info or indication.

Hi all,

I wanted to follow up on my old posts. I am still yet to hear from the HO. I know who my caseworker is and have contacted him multiple times. I also know that he has looked at my application because he asked me a few follow up questions in May.

My question is what could be taking so long, given that I know my case has been assigned, I know the caseworker has looked at my application and I responded promptly to his queries. Any insight on how the HO works here would be interesting to hear.

I have published my timeline elsewhere, but I applied 9 April and follow up Qs on 15 May and 1 June. My passport fees have not been deducted.
