I don’t think just removing doctors will help the tier 2 issue significantly. We learnt from the breakdown of where the RCoS were being allocated last month that it’s nurses that are taking up the largest chunk, not doctors.

And also if the issue is resolved with the doctors the papers (I.e. the Guardian, Times, etc.) are mostly going to stop writing about the issue and bringing attention to it. From following these threads for the past 6-7 months it seems a large majorly of you guys are IT specialists, data analysts, etc. and while I’m sure your roles are highly important and crucial to the companies wishing to hire you, it’s not an issue that will strike a cord with the public, subsequently making the big news sites want to report on it like the government banning doctors has.

Apparently there is meant to be an immigration update at the end of the month. I’m really hoping they’ll announce something re nurses and other SOL roles then because while removing doctors will help, I don’t think it will be significant enough to really deal with the backlog before September when we’re back to 1500 available RCoS.

The link to the news-

https://www.theguardian.com/society/201 ... as-doctors

But it is still unclear that nurses and other staff will be exempted from the visa cap or not. Dont see any huge difference even if doctors are exempted from the cap. What are your thoughts everyone?
Agreed. If it will be only for doctors who was refused to get COS then it will not help others a lot.
If doctor refused to COS - it means he is not on SOL and salary < 50K. Removing such cases doesn't give a big relief since main issue now is huge number of application from SOL like nurses.

But if all NHS jobs will be treated differently and excluded from cap - this will be huge relief.

Not to get anyones hopes up, but Sajid Javid is a business guy, former banker, so I doubt that he's going to push for anything that doesn't help business as well as NHS. Fingers crossed.

I agree with hopeful , best is if a decision is made to remove nurses and doctors or scrap the cap entirely , cause if it is only for doctors its not gonna help anyone ..
The public is not really bothered if IT specialist come to the uk and neither will the media cover the story for this, so this is it , the news in the coming days will tell us a lot ,, this month is gonna be bad as well and will cut off at 50- 55 most likely , but maybe July is great for everyone. Lets see what happens.

50k is definitely 50 points
Ok Then how would you define 46 point cut off for April month?
Its simple. No application with up to 45 points were selected. Only 50 & above were selected!
As per my understanding, though 45k to 49k slab carry 25 points as per guide.
it is like below.
46k - 26 points........
49k - 29 points
50k - 30 points
reason is if 45k to 49k is 25 points, 50 to 54 can be allotted with 26 points.why increase in 5 points??. This justifies how April cut off is 46. those with 46k salary is approved. one with 45k are rejected.
I don't think your reasoning is correct. In April, I had an offer worth 47k. Therefore as per your reasoning, I should have had 47 points (27 for salary & 20 for RLMT), and should have made the cut off of 46. But I didn't! That's why I believe, there are no inter-slab points assigned by Home Office!

Anyone unsure of how points are calculated can refer page 129 on this document:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... l_v1.0.pdf

My two cents on the subject are that we should keep this thread for results only, and not speculation on how points are calculated. The points calculation is pretty clear in the above guidance.

If you're not in a shortage occupation, you will get 20 points for a successful RLMT and additionally, points depending on your salary range (5k bands).
If you're in a shortage occupation, you don't really need to worry about points.

Thanks

45 would have a lot of people since most people come in via RLMT + salary
However, there will be some people who are on 'milkround' route (you can read for more in the document) who got 30 points then say 17 points for salary so there could be people with say 47 points

Yes aditri , for Non - Shortage with RLMT ( 20 points) means after 50 next slab is 45 with the salary range ( 45 K to 49,999k)

And with 6 months of backlog there’s thought to be an estimated 650-ish in this 45 point band that have to be either all cleared or all miss out again. (Based on the figures from the spreadsheet that was in May’s thread).

Hello! I am new on this discussion thread. My employer has submitted my application second time for June panel. They have not revealed me where I stand on points but I believe, I score 50 points (with 50k salary and non-SOL). I read in this thread yesterday, 50 point applicants got approved but I haven't heard anything yet from my employer. Is there anyway I can confirm this online?

If this applicant has 75 points(highest I have seen here) why it has not been approved yet?

Yes you are right , Backlog of 45 should be cleared then only candidates with less than 45 will have some hope , but actually I lost my hope but just trying with 40 pts. (4th time). I guess this time cutoff would be 46 again lets wait and see

Have some patience guys. Employers usually take a week or so to communicate the results to candidates. It's just been 2 days since the Home Office meeting was held. So I suggest wait for few more days!

I understand the frustration we are going through from last December 2017 but what i understand from my sources is that the quota is again over subscribed and cut off will be 50K salary for june month

I am waiting at 45 points and have nothing but to wait for July when some change will happen :( :( :( :( :(

Not released but through some one who got the news.
I hope the news turns out to be false and people below 50k are also considered but whenever i got information from this source it turned to be true

I don't think the cutoff is 50 it might be higher than that.
I am waiting at 50 points, NON-SOL, IT job

But some people with 50 points have got a successful response already. And afaik, either all the people with the same number of points go through or none of them. There is no half way. Sometimes they may take upto 100 certificates from next months' quota to accommodate current month's requests in order to manage this situation.

I think this easily can be true. I really don't think that 45 point can be cleared with just 2k certificates available. It will be good sign for next month if 300-400 certificates will be moved to next month. This will means that all above 45 is cleared but some certificates left.
But if all certificates will be spend to > 45p this month I don't think that people with less or equal that 45p have hope next month as well unless the changes mentioned above will help significantly.
