How to request for an application to be held

I am due to apply for ILR through long residence (10 year route). My wife is on a tier 2 dependent visa but not eligible for ILR to will be applying using the FLR(M) form. I was told that I need to submit both my SET(LR) and my wife's FLR(M) applications, but must ask the HO to hold my wife's application until mine has been processed. Is this correct and if so how do I go about requesting the HO to hold one application? Thank you.

Thanks. I'm confused though about how I give certain information on my wife's FLR(M) when I would only get it after I am issued with my ILR i.e. I can't give them my biometrics residence card number. Surely I can't submit the application if it is missing information like that?
