EEA Family Visa - Proof of Dependency?

Post by Satisfied Fool » Thu Jun 28, 2018 10:16 am

Hi everyone,

I am struggling a bit figuring out what proof of dependency consists of. Next week I have an appointment at the consulate in Amsterdam and one of the documents I need to provide is this proof of dependency.

The situation is as follows:

Me (Dutch citizen) & my wife (Turkish citizen, with Type I Residence permit) are going to Scotland for a holiday, so I applied for a EEA Family Visa. She studies, doesn't work and has no income. Her residence permit shows me as her sponsor.

After filling out the enormous amount of questions on the visa application we now have an appointment coming up and one of the documents I need to provide is the previously mentioned proof of dependency. The main question is, what documents are eligible as proof of dependency?

Also we will have to provide a marriage certificate. We have one of these already, but it is about half a year old. Would that be a problem - does it need to be recent certificate that is no older than say 3 months?

All help is highly appreciated!

All the best,

Luuk

Spouses of EEA citizens do not need to provide proof of dependency. That is for parents of EEA Citizen and any non-EEA children over the age of 21.

Shared bank account statements, shared (council tax, rent, gas, water, electricity) bills are a start.
