First British passport

My application for naturalisation for british citizenship has been approved by the grace of God. I received my citizenship ceremony invitation letter today. But I have a problem my name is Jacqueline but in my passport it's been misspent as Jacquelling . I hate that spelling.

I was thinking of doing a deed poll before I apply for my first British passport. But in the guidance notes of my invitation letter is says

" You should note that HM passport office will not issue a British passport in a name that is different to any other passport or travel document that a person holds. This is to ensure consistency with identities in the British passport and any other passport or travel document. If the details on your citizenship certificate and foreign passport do not match you will need to Change your foreign passport into your new name before applying for a British passport. "

Does this mean they won't accept a deed poll, that I have to change the name on my foreign passport?

BTW am from The Gambia which is part of the commonwealth

i just had the same problem as you when applying for my first british passport as well
they wont issue you a passport in a different name but there is a way around it which i used.

my home country is restricted on name changes so i ahd to supply evidance of this. i wasnt able to due to the embassy refusing to answer the phone so i pointed out that it was on yhe offical gobernment webiste (and printed out the foreign and english versions with highlights showing the legalisation stating this) and sent it along with a cover letter pointing out that under british laws (i supplied the article number(s) that as long as my home country didnt not allow it i was allowed an observation page on my passport and it done the job so its worth a go
along with sending your deed poll.

My first name is misspelt on my passport. HMPO have told me I can't get to correct spelling in my british passport I need to update my foreign passport. To be able to do that I need to go back to my native country and apply which will cost alot of money.

I was wondering would I be able to apply for a British passport with the name on my foreign passport then when I get the passport to a deed poll and then apply for another passport in the correct name
