Applying for NIN, Anyway to get this done faster?

This is an area for the discussion of matters related to issues about moving from one country to another. Examples could be about money transfer, moving and packing, validity of driving licence, etc..

It is not a general non-immigration, free-for-all area.

Applying for NIN, Anyway to get this done faster?

Post by GlowingOver » Thu Aug 02, 2018 2:25 pm

I called the job centre and applied for my NIN, i have to wait till the 30th of August in order to get in to my appointment. I currently don't have the luxury of sitting around and waiting for my NIN to be approved before being able to open up a bank account and start work.

I've noticed there's a payable online solution which offers NIN quicker, is this legit?

Is there a faster way to get around this at all?

Any 'payable online solution' is likely a 'money making racket'.

You must apply through DWP or Job Centre and NIN is issued for free.

You don't need an NI number to open a bank account, we certainly didn't when we arrived.

What visa are you on??

On a Tier 5 youth mobility.

Sorry, in order to get paid i'd need a NIN but i run the risk of being taxed a significantly higher rate without it?

Yes but you can still work without an NI and you get taxed at the emergency BR rate.

No, it is through Job Centre unfortunately.

Does your BRP not have it printed on the card? Some visas get them when they apply for a UK visa.

Hi Char,

From your experience, is it mainly work visas that have them preassigned on the BRP? or in some cases can spouse visa's also have them preassigned and printed on the card?

Usually Tier 2 work visas yes.
