Switching job on tier2 general

Hi Everyone,

I am going through the process of switching jobs on Tier2 general. The new company I am moving to has sponsored me visa with COS start date given in future (such that I can serve the notice period in my current company).I have got my new visa (BRP) with date as current (i.e. visa approved date) on the visa and old BRP have been retained by UKVI.
All is good till here , but after getting the visa when I told my current company that I am leaving, they are asking me to pay back the bonus which I was given (which I need to as per the company rules).

My question is , can I stay back with my current company rejecting the offer given by new company even after visa processing is done? If yes, since my old BRP has been retained by UKVI what is the process I need to follow if I choose to stay back with my current company?

Your old visa has been cancelled. You cannot stay with your current employer after the start date stated on your CoS
