FLR (M) questions

Post by Ljm1989 » Mon Aug 13, 2018 10:53 pm

Hi there

My Australian husband and I are coming round to having to apply for his FLR M visa. I am English. I just have a few questions that I wondered if anyone can help with?

1. We applied as unmarried partners but we are now married - does this change anything?

2. He arrived 12th March 2016 and his 2.5 years is up on November 13th 2018. We aim to apply in person at a premium service centre around October 16th - do these timings line up for when we apply for his citizenship in another 2.5 years?

3. We need to apply at a premium service centre as we have a wedding in Australia on 26th November. Do you have any tips on getting an appointment? I assume I need to wait until sept 1st to apply to satisfy the 45 days prior?

4. I am changing job role before we apply (within the 6 months) but my husband will be at the same company earning over the 18.6k requirement (although has got promotions within the 6months) - is that ok or do I need to be in the same company for 6 months too?

5. In terms of the premium booking - our local office is London however it says only tier 2 or tier 5 visas - does this mean a spouse visa can’t be applied for there?

Sorry if these questions seem obvious, I am just trying to get my head into this - any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks x

Bank statements for financial requirement

Post by Ljm1989 » Tue Aug 14, 2018 8:11 am

Hi guys

My husband just found out that he does not get his bank statements by post and we are relying on them for the financial requirement. He is with HSBC. I can’t see online how we can get genuine back dated statements, and I know they don’t accept print outs from online - what should we do in this instance is there a way to get bank statements they will accept?

Thanks so much

No issue.
2. He arrived 12th March 2016 and his 2.5 years is up on November 13th 2018. We aim to apply in person at a premium service centre around October 16th - do these timings line up for when we apply for his citizenship in another 2.5 years?

After the next 2.5 year visa if it is approved, Citizenship is not the next step. He has to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain, currently costing £2999 for in person same day at premium service centre. He can only apply for citizenship after this (current cost £1330) and if he meets all the requirements.
3. We need to apply at a premium service centre as we have a wedding in Australia on 26th November. Do you have any tips on getting an appointment? I assume I need to wait until sept 1st to apply to satisfy the 45 days prior?

He can apply within 28 days before reaching 2.5 years residence. Many experiencing problems getting appointments so be prepared. Usually not a problem as part of the online application process. Some potential changes coming into force in October regarding premium service, general-uk-immigration-forum/ukvi-digit ... 60944.html

Don't forget to pay the IHS fee.
4. I am changing job role before we apply (within the 6 months) but my husband will be at the same company earning over the 18.6k requirement (although has got promotions within the 6months) - is that ok or do I need to be in the same company for 6 months too?
You can use EITHER income.
5. In terms of the premium booking - our local office is London however it says only tier 2 or tier 5 visas - does this mean a spouse visa can’t be applied for there?
You cannot use the London office as they only process visas as stated. Nearest to London is Croydon but I suggest you be flexible in date/time and location if you want an appointment.

Online statements must be stamped by the branch otherwise they are not accepted. Can he go into the branch and ask for statements??

I can't thank you enough for your clear advice! I am just going through this now.

I've seen a few issues with people trying to get premium appointments so we will be as persistent as possible with it and consider other centres if required.

Around the new service centres - I'm just doing some reading, have people been able to book appointments for October, or are all appointments going to be now processed through the new Sopra Steria company? I was going to apply for a PSC appointment on 1st Sept but now I'm not sure whether to hold off until the new system comes into play...

Thanks again! x

October appointments would not be available yet anyway as it is too early. What the new system will be and if it is efficient etc, no one can say just yet.

If the new systems is in place from X October, you wouldn't be able to book an appointment in the current form anyway as far as I understand.

Thank you for your help.

With regards to the bank statements, it turns out my husband had not updated his address with the bank, so we can get the statements from them but some of them will have our old address on them, when we actually moved in March. Will this affect anything?

Thanks
Lois
