ILR Granted

Post by awaitingILR » Thu Aug 16, 2018 4:34 pm

Hi All,

After 2 years of long wait I have received my ILR on Tier 1 General. I have 2 queries if someone can help me would be really appreciated.

1. As I waited for more than 2 years for no fault of mine, Can I apply for Naturalisation now or do I have to wait for an year?

2. I still have not received my wife's approval letter and passports. Can someone please advise where I can chase them or send a letter?

Kind regards

Your very first post on these forums referred to a tax discrepancy issue impacting your ILR application. Can you elaborate on what the tax discrepancy issue was? Were you asked for any additional documentation or explanation during the two years?

Hi,

I had a minor tax error which was updated before applying for ILR WITH HMRC, In concern to this I was interviewed in May-17 and I received 1 or 2 letters after that saying your case is complex and we won't be able to make a decision but they never asked for any additional documents.

I chased it up number of times through my MP and send them letters. Now 2 weeks ago I received my ILR but I am still waiting for my wife passport. Can you please advise how can I chase it up as we have already waited for quite a while and we need to travel urgently. Shouldn't we have got our passports together? Have they forgotten about it and we need to send them a letter to let them know that they have another application to process as well? It seems to be a never ending wait. Please advise what can be done so that I can get her passport at the earliest? Your help would be highly appreciated.

thanks in advance.

Regards

Has your wife had any issues, such as with taxation or working more hours than what she was permitted, during her residence in the UK?

Be aware that like the rest of us, UKV&I caseworkers will also likely take leave at this time of the year.

It may be worth applying for an SAR with the UKV&I to get an understanding of what held up your ILR application. That would help us advise you further on whether you can apply for naturalisation.

Thanks for replying Secret.simon and sorry for being impatient.

No she never had any issues with tax or working more hours as she is my dependant and she is salaried. so don't know why they still haven't sent her passport as we never send any of her documents. Have they misplaced her passport and what is the best way to contact them when we need to travel urgently?

Thanks in advance.
