Don't believe what they say to you. There is nothing for certain with this office. The best way to get an update is to send them a post and ask for update. The ceremony could be next November and we still have around 3.5 month till that time.

Hi guys !

Any update on your application? One of my friend also applied in 2016 based on married to EU. Stamp4 EuFam. He rand the citizenship department last tuesday and he was told on phone by a lady that " Your application is completed and next ceremony is 26th of November and you will get your notification soon".He is confused as he's not registered in this forum. Does anybody knows what's that mean?

Thanks

It is good for your friend that his application has been completed. They should send him the approval letter shortly. I think that delayed applications should receive decisions before the next ceremony. So let's hope for the best.

This is getting ridiculous and a mere joke. People have applied for more than 2 years and no response. I applied in November 2016 & received the 2nd stage letter in June 2017 and since then no progress. According to
them since July 2017 they have been awaiting external agency information. On the other hand when they need to hire people for any job or doctors they do Garda Vetting in less 2 weeks. Can’t see coming to an end in this year. Let’s see

My wife contacted our local T.D. for getting the update on her application. I did a little research on all the local TDS and we contacted the one who is very vocal raising the immigration issues. She got the same reply from inis that the app is in advance stage and the minister will make a decision soon.
My T.D. apologised for the appaling system and has asked my wife to contact her in a months’ time if She doesnt have a decision by then. She seems to be very nice lady. Hopefully will sort this out.

Hi There, same happen to me. They ask for my passport and they needed around 5 months to send back to me. Don't worry they will send it back after they finish their work. If you have any travel you can wirte to them and ask them to send it back.

Hi guys,

I also applied since June 2016 and my application is still on 2nd stage since February this year. I was asked for my passport and they returned me back in 5 working days since then continued to be processed. When i ring them they tell me the same story waiting for " Garda reports or external reports" One of my friend called them 2 weeks ago for an update and he was told his application has been completed and ceremony is in 26th of Nov this year. He called last week again and he was told we are still waiting for garda reports and we dont know when is the next ceremony. He was annoyed and told the lady that i was told completely different story last week so she said i don't know why someone said to you this. I can see in the system we are waiting on garda reports on your file. This office is mad and i am losing hope now.

I had a similar experience before the last ceremony this year, I was told "application is in the final stage and almost ready for submission", next week "application is submitted to the minister", the week after "Application is being processed and in the final stage, but not yet completed" When confronted that there is no consistency in the story, then I have this conversation;
INIS Team: who told you last week?
I: I don't know, how can I tell you her name, usually you don't say your name while answering the phone. Even if they say, I can't recall.
INIS Team: ok, all I can tell you that your application is the final stage but not submitted to the Minister yet"
I: Does it mean I was given wrong information last time by two different persons at two different occasions...
INIS Team: I can't say anything. You will be notified whenever a decision has been made.

It seems like every person answering the phone makes up a story which he/she answers to all applicants in the same situation. I have seen people reporting on this forum after the call and their stories match exact word by word. I don't know who to believe, I am sure after calling once, if you call them again in 10 mins or so and someone else answers your phone, you will hear a different story.

if Garda vetting is the reason for delays, is there any way to push this vetting via Garda by asking TDs or else?

Garda vetting doesn't take too long. 2 days ago i got the same template reply from them through email

" Thank you for your email. Your application for naturalisation continues to
be processed in the normal way with a view to establishing whether the
applicant meets the statutory conditions for the granting of naturalisation
and will be submitted to the Minister for decision when processing is
complete. If further documentation and/or clarification of any matter
related to your application is required from you, we will write to you
requesting it.

Please Note each application is assessed on an individual basis and the
amount of time gathering all the the necessary information varies from
application to application. While it is not possible to give an exact
timeframe, this office will be in touch as soon as a decision has been
reached "

After 2nd stage letter since feburary this year only getting this reply. Applied since june 2016.

They are wasting time and energy of people.
We have been waiting for almost 2 years. Applied in November 2016. Since July 2017 after the 2nd stage letter they are awaiting external agency information and this is according to phone line. They email is simple copy and paste formate as all of know. Not sure Garda vetting of any information would take that long...We are not criminals and when they can offer job in public sector HSE hospitals after clearance then what is the issue of getting any sort of information.
In my opinion they are just clearing few people in 6 months time just to legally comment in news papers or in the parliament that the office’s general time frame is 6 months.

Hi guys!

I rang the department today about the update. The lady on phone said me the big ceremony is on 26th of November and it has been confirmed now. My case is still in process on normal checks. Can anyone tell me that to contact department and thru phone calls is counterproductive for case cos somebody told me it goes against your file but i dont believe . Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks

Calls, emails, posts have no impact on your application outcome.

calling them and emailing them asking for up date will only frustrate you they don't know more then what you know about the status of your application.
my suggestion is avoid contacting them so people that are in the process of making application and have concerns about some question on the form can get reply faster.
once you get into second stage contacting them is waste of your and their time.

their are only 3 steps once the application get into second stage character check, submission of file to ministers office and final decision.

I have an odd question. By the facts, the office posts all approval letters by regular post. In very rare circumstances a letter may be lost in transit. So, now my question. Imagine your letter was lost, you don't know about it, the office doesn't know about it, you didn't send them a 950 fee and your card in 10 days period. What will happen after that? I doubt the office will notify you again.

if there is one service that has impressed me beyond any doubt in the whole wide world that's AN POST
they never lose your post ever!!!!!

to answer your question lets do the stats

what are the chances of you losing post?
and from the post what are the chances that letter will be your approval letter?

Anxiety and stress are killers and citizenship is not more important then your mental health not even remotely

bless you

a colleague of mine was expecting to be invited for the may ceremony and inquired occasionally about his status, at some point they told him he got it approved, he said he didn't receive anything, they've attached a pdf to their email to confirm so he can pay and get an invite.
