failed degree but sponsored for Tier 1 GE

Post by Ali272 » Sat Aug 25, 2018 5:03 pm

Hello,

One of my friend just got sponsored for Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur by his university. He failed his masters but he still has his 2:1 undergraduate UK degree dated July 2017. Is it possible for him to switch to Tier 1 GE?

He plans to switch in December 2018 and he has visa until Jan 2019.

Thanks.

I don't believe academic results have anything to do with the T1GE visa

Thank you.

I also have one more friend who is on Tier 2 and wants to join him as a team. Is it possible? How does the sharing investment work if one is on Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur and one on Tier 2 General visa and both want to switch to Tier 1 Entrepreneur? How does the funding work? (They both graduated from same university and course).

Thank you so much.

It is possible, but it will have to be the 200K route

Thank you.

But how does the investment sharing work? I thought it can be half/half or it can only be between two Tier 1 GE holders?

I haven't seen anything that says it has to be between two T1GE holders only.

Both of you are eligible to switch to T1E, so I can't see why you can't form a team.

But, as mentioned before, it has to be the 200K route.

The rules requires that both have equal level of control over the investment funds and/or business(es) formed.

This does not mean the investment has to half/half, but that is the easiest way to meet the condition above.

Sorry one more question.

Can the guy who is on Tier 2 visa switch to Tier 1 GE if the university agrees to sponsor him? Obviously outside the country because switching inside the UK is not allowed for Tier 2 visa holders. He graduated in July 2017.

Thank you.

As you pointed out, he needs to cancel his T2 visa, leave the country and apply from overseas. I don't see any reason why he can't do that.
