Born before 1983, Mother BC. can I apply for passport?

Post by mtiller » Fri Oct 19, 2018 6:50 pm

Hi,

My wifes mother was born in UK and emigrated to Australia. My wife was born in Oz and has ILR in UK, we have lived in the UK since 2000. Can my wife apply for a British passport now, or does she need to do something else first?

Thanks in adavnce

Mark

Your wife needs to register as a British citizen on Form UKM before applying for a British passport.

Alternatively, your wife can apply for a CoE-RoA as a Commonwealth citizen with Right of Abode in the UK.
