Registration (MN1) and Passport

Post by raju12345 » Mon Oct 29, 2018 11:35 am

Good Morning,
Could you please help me with some advice. I’ll be really grateful.
My 8 yr old and 4 yr old are both UK born and they have visa till 11th jan 2019 as dependents of tier 2 migrants. My wife and I got our ILR in February 2018 but due to some reasons, we could not apply to register the kids as BC. Now, when we decided to register them, we found out this this is a lengthy process and could take up to 3 months or even 6 months! Could a kind soul please tell me if they run out of the visa before their registration, would this be a problem? I was thinking of registering first and then apply for their passport but it seems like I don’t have enough time for that.
Please help.
Many thanks,
Raju

No issue with their visa expiring. They both have an entitlement to register.

So if I apply now and say, they get their registration after January, when their visa expires, would they not have any problem with getting their passport?
Just out of curiosity, once they are registered, will it be okay if I apply for their passport next year?
Thanks again for your valuable advice.

No they won't.

It is not mandatory to apply for a passport. However obvs they cannot travel if they don't have one.

Thank you very much.
