You seems like newly learning about the financial requirements. Apart of your saving held in bank for 6 months you have to declare its source too. Moreover, your or your partner job offers alone won't work rather 6 months of earning will be required and either or both of you can work & combine your wages.RGM wrote: ↑Fri Nov 09, 2018 6:25 pmLet me start by saying I appreciate any help, tips, or advice offered.
My wife is Scottish, myself Canadian as with our daughter(dual citizenship). We have recently returned from visiting her home and family in Scotland, and decided that we need to move there as soon as possible due to the failing health of both of her parents. We have been home a week and I have done nothing but read confusing immigration information until my head is spinning.
Normally I work full time, allowing my wife the ability to stay at home with our daughter and just work 1 day a week to get out of the house. She has been with the same employer for 6 years and been full and part time throughout that employment. The first thing we realized was she needed to return to full time work for 6 months to even attempt to sponsor me. I am now stay at home Dad, and my wife is returning to work full time.
We understand the minimum income threshold of £18600 pa, my wife’s wage is the equivalent to £15500 pa. Doing the math for offsetting the income difference with savings we came up with this.
£18600-£15500=£3100. £3100x2.5=£7750.
£7750+£16000= £23750.
So according to what I understand we would need £23750 in the bank for 6 months along with my wife working 6 months full time again to qualify to apply.
My wife already has a job offer back in Scotland with a wage over £19000pa so we don’t need to worry about meeting the minimum income threshold after moving.
I can also have a job offer ready for the application if it is of any help, although I know my income can not help until applying for the renewal of my visa after the first 2.5 years.
We have free accommodation being provided by my mother in law, in an owner home that has more than enough space. Would you suggest an inspection as well as a letter proving ownership and free accommodation?
Thank you again to any who can help, I’m sure I will encounter more things I don’t understand through this process and hope to find more answers here.
You cannot combine income for an initial spouse visa from abroad. Only the sponsors income is counted and as has been advised many times, sponsor overseas income can be use if it meets the minimum requirement and the sponsor has a confirmed job to start in the UK within 3 months of arrival.seagul wrote: ↑Sat Nov 10, 2018 6:12 amYou seems like newly learning about the financial requirements. So would my math be correct on the overseas income? Income + savings meeting threshold will be ok? As for declaring the source of the savings, it will be a wedding gift from my father in law, was going to be a down payment on a home but now we are going to use it this way. As far as I have read that’s an acceptable source for savings as long as it is declared.CR001 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 10, 2018 6:35 amYou cannot combine income for an initial spouse visa from abroad.
