Return of Original passport

I am in the process of sending original passport with my naturalisation application. I wonder when do they return original passport back?
I plan to travel soon for few days and would need passport.

And can we ring them to get passport earlier if it's not returned in few weeks time?

I suggest that you wait till back from your travel and then apply for citizenship and send them the passport. it took me 5 months to get my passport when I applied.

got mine back after 2 weeks, so if you want it back early just write to them and ask them to send it back early.

If you read here http://inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/WP16000022 in section 7, it's clearly stated that if you need your passport that quickly, you should apply when you come back from your trip. Applying now and requesting your passport straight away is clearly not advisable at all.

yeah your right, i just noticed that i will write to them again and will ask if they want the passports again.

It's definitely clear now, I will submit the application with passport after coming back from this trip. It will delay the process by 2 months but sounds safe.
