Knowledge Of the New Rules (and concessions)

Post by chrissy » Wed May 28, 2008 6:06 pm

Hi

I wasnt sure where to address this so decided to create a new post. I am about to submit my application for a spousal visa, finally, but would like some advice on whether it would be a wise idea to include in my cover letter that fact that I am aware of the new rules, especially the concessions which state anyone applying for a settlement visa should not be automatically refused and banned under the new rules or is this most likely to offend the ECO?

Many posts have mentioned that knowledge of the law aides in acheiving a successful application, hence the question.

Many thanks!!!

Hi Chrissy i think thats a good idea. Do you have a solicitor? If so get him/her to do it then at least that way your letter wont sound like you telling the ECOs how to do their job and this may work against you(they may ban you as punishment)lol . Or if you feel 100% confident then go for it! good luck

Most definitely mention it, and cite the relevant paragraphs of the Entry Clearance Guidance. At least that way you'll know that their information is as up to date as yours.

Or do I sound cynical?
Oh, the drama...!
