Landlord refusing to sign letter of permission

Hello everyone. First time poster from someone desperate to have their loved one (husband) join them in the UK.

So I submitted all of the visa documentation for my partner (Brazilian, currently living in Ireland where I was before, on extended spouse visa which by the way was ridiculously easy) and later got an email from the FCO saying that the accommodation documentation was not sufficient (in fairness, I had under-researched and it was pretty poor). I have 10 working days to provide the information.

However now the Landlord is refusing to provide me with a letter of permission so the question is: am I just totally screwed now? Does anyone know if it's possible to delay the application? I could easily move out now and get a one bedroom place and pre-agree with the new landlord this condition. But obviously none of that can happen within 10 days.

Am I going to have to wait and make a new application or can anyone think of any options?

What accomodation documents you attached initially and what has HO asked to provide in 10 days?

I only attached bank statements showing my address (I know I know, I'm stupid and I hadn't researched the accommodation requirement at all..).

The UK Decision Making Centre is currently assessing the application submitted by the above named. We are unable to conclude the application at this time as we require additional information:

Evidence of your proposed accommodation in the UK. This could include a tenancy agreement, land registry documents, a permission letter or a property inspection.

If the landlord is not willing to give permission to stay in the property then you will fail to meet the accommodation requirements. Cant you ask them ask to provide a no objection letter?

I don't think she will write *any* letter because I've suddenly realised she is super shady/crazy and the idea of her even writing a letter seen by the government freaks her out.

I don't even have a tenancy agreement currently. Once again, stupid I know.
I don't really have anything except evidence that I've been living here.
And I assume a property inspection report can't go ahead without the landlord's permission anyway.

But she doesn't have a tenancy agreement either.
I've been so ill-prepared..

You should definitely have to arrange & send tenancy agreement & landlord noc letter and if have non-related adult in property then property inspection report too

Is it by any chance a Council owned property? It seems likely that the person you are renting the property from doesn't have the right to sub-let.

agreed with Casa. something does not seems right here. either council owning or may be property income is not being declared by landlord to avoid tax etc.

you can buy more time from ECO by saying landlord is out of town or out reach at the moment?? Meanwhile either convince the current landlord which i doubt or get an another accommodation on urgent bases and signed a tendency agreement and send it to the ECO explaining the moving the address.

I phoned the FCO and they said the application cannot be delayed and 10 days is 10 days.

Regarding submitting proof of your current residence, it all comes down to whether the accommodation is being sub-let illegally. Do you know who owns the property

Ok so the sublet isn't illegal as far as I can see. Money is paid directly to the landlord and she does own the property and its not a council property as far as I can see, I looked it up in the land registry. She just doesn't want anything to be written on paper and takes payment in cash.
I would guess this is a simple case of tax evasion.

Your landlord is clearly misinformed and has not done her research. Under the Rent a Room Scheme, there is a tax free element and threshold.

I don't actually know what my landlord's rationale is, all I know is she is a freak.
