Can I change from visitor visa to Spouse visa

Post by dcdx89 » Tue Nov 20, 2018 8:11 am

Please excuse me if I have posted in the wrong area but I find the layout and this whole process in general very confusing.

Although very much undecided right now, me and my wife have a plan in mind should we decide to move back to the UK.

I want to move back alone to find work and earn the needed salary for 6 months so I can start the process. Once we have started the application, I would like my wife to come over to stay with me for as LONG AS POSSIBLE whilst we wait for the result. I plan to get a solicitor to handle it for me.

Would it be better for her to apply from here (Japan) and do everything from the Osaka office, or is there a visitor visa that she could use to stay in the UK for 6 months whilst she makes the application and then switches over to the spouse visa.

Thank you

She cannot switch to a spouse visa while in the UK as a visitor. She must apply for the spouse visa from Japan.

She needs to be in Japan to apply and is required to submit her passport with her application and has to enroll her biometrics.
