Collecting BRP

Post by justAnotherApplicant » Fri Nov 30, 2018 9:21 pm

Hi everyone. I've been a frequent watcher of these forums since my spouse and I applied for her Spouse Visa to come and join me here, in the UK.

I, myself am an ILR holder. We sent the application to Sheffield in September and received an approval just yesterday.
My wife is in Georgia at the moment and her vignette (temporary) visa is from 2nd of Dec 2018 - 1st Jan 2019.

Since we were not expecting the results back yet, I planned my holiday for Christmas from 22nd of Dec 2018 - 9th of Jan 2019.

We were expecting it towards the end of December, so we thought we would come back on the 9th together.

Now we're left in a bit of a financial issue here - she will need to come to the UK in next few days, collect her BRP and then we will have to leave for Georgia together, so quite some extra costs for tickets (especially on Christmas time).

So my question is - is it possible for me to collect her BRP from the Post Office and take it with me, so that she can enter the UK on the 9th with me?

Or is it a must that she needs to enter the UK with her vignette visa first?

Thanks in advance.

No you cannot. She needs to attend to collect it as she has to present her passport with the entry stamp on her visa vignette.

Unfortunately Yes.

She needs to enter the UK first, in order to get her passport stamped on entry and then collect her BRP within 10 days of arrival.

Edit: beaten once again by a speedier CR001
