De Facto Visa Query

Post by nsaberian » Tue Dec 04, 2018 12:54 pm

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding the De Facto Visa application process. I am a Canadian citizen and my boyfriend is Irish. We've been together for 5 years and applied for the de facto visa in late August 2018. We meet all the requirements of the visa including cohabitation but he wasn't working for a year prior to the visa application and I'm wondering if that will impact the application in any way. I spoke with someone at MRCI and they informed me that he must be able to prove he earns 40K of income over the past 3 years prior to the application being sent and not been on benefits. He currently has a job which pays over 40k and he had the job at the time of the application as well. How much will this impact our application if we meet all the other requirements?

Thanks in advance,
Confused

I haven't heard of that requirement of a salary of €40000 or more anywhere, it doesn't appear in their website either so I'm not sure what that person is referring to.

Regarding the year that your boyfriend wasn't working that won't be a problem for INIS. The whole point of the application is to prove that you and your boyfriend are in a genuine marriage-like relationship and are able to support each other without any social assistance from the government.

I applied for de facto for my girlfriend last year and got approval in about 8 months. No questions asked. I was not aware of any requirement to be on 40K. All you need to prove is that you are able to sponsor your other half with your salary.

Thanks for your response littlerr. What did you have to send in to confirm that? Just paystubs enough?

I don't remember the details but I think we just followed their requirement on the website. Most likely P60 for the last two years, payslips and bank statements from the last 3-6 months.

De Facto Visa Decision Letter

Post by nsaberian » Sat Mar 16, 2019 12:22 pm

Hi everyone,

Yesterday my boyfriend and I weren’t home and we received each a registered mail from Inis regarding my de facto visa application. We won’t be able to get the mail until after the weekend but I was wondering if it’s typical for the sponsor to also receive a letter??? Worried sick now! Can anyone who received their decision letter recently please share your experience? Thanks

We received only 1 letter by registered mail, sent to the applicant.
