Urgent- Need to contact HO with regards a Tier 1 application

Post by ViperWiper » Mon Jun 02, 2008 5:41 pm

Guys,

I need some information fairly urgently. I sent my family's passport (mine, spouse and child's) for Tier 1 ( HSMP ---> Tier 1) last week. My spouse needs to travel to India - very urgently - relative on death bed - how do I get her passport back.

Also, is there any urgent treatment form that can be used - I know there is one for HSMP.

Any phone number, fax numbers, email ids etc where I can reach HO will be much appreciated.

thanks,

VW

Call the customer contact center and check with them as to where you should fax your request for either urgent treatment or withdrawing the application (whatever you are thinking of doing).

Provide clear reason as to why you are requesting for urgent treatment otherwise you will be told that urgent treatment requests aren't being entertained.

I was reading somewhere on the forum that unlike HSMP, there is no urgent treatment route for Tier-I. However speaking to the customer care ppl wouldn't hurt.

Quite right there isn't, the application may need to be withdrawn or at least the dependent may need to be removed from it.

Tried to find the statement (no urgent treatment for Tier 1), but couldn't find it on the website, hence posted a generic advice earlier. Maybe it is there - hidden somewhere.

I think Tier 1 should be the scheme where urgent treatment request must be entertained - the applicants are required to send in their passport(s), unlike HSMP. And with current avg. processing times standing at 10 weeks (ridiculous!!), some frequent flyer applicants stand to lose loads of free miles.

But that's BIA

Many thanks guys - I will post my experiences when I am through this ordeal. To be honest I see no reason why HO needs the travel papers for making a decision regarding any type of Visa.

They can take all the other paperwork (barring passport) - make a decision subject to Passport check - which can be done when the passport is stamped - and people should have the right (or option) to have the stamping done in person. In this day and age of computers they have archaic system. With world travel becoming a way of life for business/ family reasons - its just ludicrous that the need to hold people hostage; not to mention it increases their work load and stress as people keep freting about their passports.

Update-

Spoke to a chap at the HO. Unfortunately they do not have a process of Urgent treatment form for Tier1.

The only option is for the application to be withdrawn - one can do a partial withdrawal i.e dependant application can be withdrawn and you can let the main application continue.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

VW
