British Citizenship or EU Settlement Scheme

Post by Sophiea_543 » Thu Dec 13, 2018 11:39 am

If I have been living in the UK for over 5 years by March 2019, would it be better to apply for British Citizenship or should I still go through the EU Settlement Scheme? On this page: weblink removed by moderator about British Citizenship it says you need to have been in the country for 5 years, and if I am planning on staying indefinitely would that not be the better and more secure option?

The requirement is to have been resident for 5 years and out of the 5 years, you must have held PR for 12 months (so 6 years in total) unless married to a British citizen then the 12 months on PR is not relevant.

Do you already hold a Document Certifying Permanent Residence?? This is mandatory before you can apply for citizenship.
