Impact of "Released under investigation" on application of Naturalisation

Hi,

I wanted to understand the impact of "Released under investigation" on my application of Naturalisation. I was arrested on suspicion for a crime i did not commit (and was in fact a victim of the crime itself) released thereafter. However the case is still open as there were apparently other victims like myself of the same crime committed by someone else who i dont know if has been caught or not. I intend to declare this information on my application but i wanted to understand if i should apply for naturalisation or wait for the case to get to a logical end (which could take years). I am otherwise eligible for the naturalisation process.

I think depends on the severity of the crime. if it is a serious one (can be lead to imprisonment), they usually won't decide until the judgement is final.

I was not charged. I gave my interview and was released. They said they will contact if they need more information. So far they have not contacted me. It has been 9 months since the incident.

You will need to declare it. But because the case is still open, your application might be delayed. If you want to go ahead with the application, then I will suggest you provide as many evidence as possible about the issue and write a detailed cover letter explaining what happened. I'm sure the HO will be able to get more information on the case from the right department. You can check with the police station where you were interviewed for an update on the case.
