Got it, thanks! My cousin is 7885 and I am 8832, our online apps were filed exactly a week apart. Thats about 1000 per week.. thats is why it wook 6 days between Spav and Sean.

My 2 Applications end with 7884 and 7888 so we ‘should’ receive our information from Dublin about the same time as your cousin.

I have an application number in the 7300's - so about 500 ahead of Upliam or Michael123's cousin. I'm not sure the application number is meaningful in determining the time-frame for approval. Other factors probably weigh more heavily. It is worth mentioning that people can apply and pay online (getting the application number) well before the documents are received by an embassy or Dublin. I paid about 3 days before my appointment to drop off documents in person. Conceivably, a person could wait weeks or more between applying online and physical application receipt. Date of receipt matters more, I'm sure.

Aside from that, this is a human based process after all and applications are probably allocated in batches to case workers to go through. The speed with which approval is made in all probability hinges on the work ethic of the person doing the checking and the complexity of the the applications (yours and others) in the batch concerned. I would be shocked to personally hear anything before mid January. I say this having applied in Beijing - where they are not exactly having a torrent of FBR applications. Applying from the UK or any European embassy with a lot of British expats in country could well be slower due to application volume.

You can call the DFA FBR Section directly on +353 1 408 2555. They operate on Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri from 10am -1pm Irish time and 2pm to 5pm on Wed.

Personally, I have not called them as communication for me is via an embassy. From what I have read previously in this thread, they do tend to answer email eventually.

He was a USA applicant and his application was recieved on 8/3. Sean was also 8/3 but it took 6 days between them. My last note was 970 applications per week (at the min) / 200 per day, they are getting more applications per day than they can process. Christmas has passed, I think I will be lucky to get any news by Feb and would not be surprised if it took more than 6 months

An application number is generated when you click the link "Begin your online Foreign Births Registration application" - not when you submit it and make payment. So if you don't complete it, I don't think DFA sees an application with that number. I know that I probably "wasted" a couple of numbers while checking out the application before I was ready to complete it.

Sean was entered in the FBR on 12/19 - four months and ten days after his application was received. Yours was received a week later. So unless they had a huge surge in applicants in between, I would think your FBR is near at hand. Whether they will inform you probably depends on who is handling your application. Allowing for three weeks between FBR entry date and document delivery, I would be surprised if you were still waiting on February 1.

My use if numbers was not a definite, just a general thought, nothing here is in stone. Thank you for your input! Sean’s application was recieved just over 2 weeks ahead of me, 11 business days (8/3 and 8/21) But not knowing for sure the holiday schedule at the FBR office, I will assume that they are closed until 1/2/19 which will be another week. I have my passport application in hand and waiting... thanks for the input, this forum is keeping me sane lol

What the DFA should do is offer a Fast-Track solution for FBR. People who are particularly antsy or have an urgent need for citizenship could follow that route. I think they could easily triple the price if they promised to get it done inside a month.

Hi all, I've been watching for a few months and thought it was time to chime in with my dates to compare with others.
Michael123, I've been watching with interest as you are about 3 weeks ahead of me based on email acknowledging reciept of documents after completing application. I think you're closest to my date that I've seen.
I applied online on 04 September, posted all my documents on 06 September, and recieved the email on 12 September. I used the online contact form to request my application status on December 15 but have heard nothing yet (acknowledging that I know it takes up to 6 months etc). Hopefully no news is good news and they aren't going to request more documents.
My story is that I was born in the UK to British parents of all four Irish grandparents. I moved to Ireland when I was 3, in 1990 and have been raised and lived here ever since. We never had all the documents needed to apply until my maternal grandmother passed away and the marriage, birth certificates etc came out of the woodwork!
So finally it's time to apply to ensure ease of travel in and out of the country I call home once March 2019 rolls around.

Hi just thought I would add my time also if it will help others.

All done through the UK embassy in London in regard to an Irish grandmother. Also worth adding I contacted the embassy in advance as none of the dates of birth on the documentation matched and was advised to include an affit Davit as to the circumstances (duly done).

12/07 Applied online
31/07 Email confirming documents received
24/12 Called Dublin and advised in final stages

Am I right in assuming you can't ask your doctor or a lawyer to sign it unless they know you personally or know someone who does know you personally?
My mum's friend does have a brother who is a doctor so that's probably the option I have? But the friend doesn't really know me that well.
It seems unfair though...what if you don't have those connections?!

Do you have a bank account?

I used my bank manager at the branch I opened my account with 7 years ago. I met her the day I went to get my application witnessed but because I have a bank account there, she technically "knows" me. She had no problem doing it, so maybe check with them.

I just went to my local Garda station and he signed and stamped everything when he was happy that I was who I said I was, after looking over my documents. From what I've seen on the forum it differs from person to person if they're willing to put their name up for you. As long as they are on the list of witnesses, and are willing to vouch for you, I don't think you need to be bosom buddies!

Im sure your doctor would sign for you. I dont think that “knowing you personally” means that your Doctor has been over your house for a cook-out but rather he/she knows who you are and can verify you are who you say and witnessed you sign the application, I think you can also use a notary with proper identification or the same with a police officer.

I dont know how you are or if your doctor has given you the prostate exam, but who would know you better than Dr Jellyfinger?

I've done my online application today. At the top of the form I printed off it says to send the application form to the FBR section in Dublin. I thought I would have to send it to the London embassy as I live in the UK. Is that normal?

I find it strange because I would have thought if you were living in England you would have had to send it to the Embassy of Ireland in London like I had to send mine to the Consulate General of Ireland in Edinburgh with being resident in Scotland.

If you’ve entered all your details correctly on the online application form I’d send it to where it advises at the top of the application form as sending it directly to Dublin can only speed up your application from other posts I’ve read and you are doing as you were advised on the form. I can’t see it hindering your application at all.
